Most of us must have thought some or the other time that, are we living our own dreams or our parents’ dreams. The commonest answer is that our parents spend money on us, so obviously it’s our duty to fulfill their dreams and wishes. But there is also another side of the coin and that is we also have our own dreams, don’t we have the slightest bit of right to fulfill them?

Our parents for sure take care of our needs but sometimes they ignore what we actually desire. It’s true that every parent wants his/her child to have a secure, decent life. But why that can’t be achieved the way we think, why it always have to be the way our parents decide for us? My question is why can’t parents trust us with our decisions?

In fact our parents are spending so much of money so that we can become sensible humans to take better decisions. But when they interfere and ask us not to take our decisions for our own career, that is exactly the point where we become feeble. If this will continue, how can we dare to take risks and take right decisions in our future? Will our parents always be there with us when we would be taking any big decision? NO !!  

Then why not now? Why can’t parents let their children be their selves and let them to struggle with their own lives. Some or the other day, we’re going to get out of the safe cocoon created by our parents and that very day we’ll face difficulties because we never dared to speak against them and never followed our heart. We just respected their view points and now we’ll face the big bad world with our own dim confidence, afraid that they’ll never be good.

The thing is parents don’t understand that by doing such things they’re not only ruining their children’s lives but also creating a petite, coward, dumb person who has no self confidence to face this world. What will happen when we abruptly enter into some career without any self-interest? We will evidently prove ourselves as the dumbest person ever available because we'll be pathetic in that job. That day, we'll realise that the money spent on us has actually gone in vain. Often parents ask this question that can we make enough money with what we want to do? And yup!! money is the most important thing in this hypocrite society where nothing seems possible without money. Any venture we plan to do, our main focus is always on the profit earned. When campus comes to the institutes, the question is how much is the package? Great…. but actually the question should be how much happiness and satisfaction am I going to earn from this job !! The thing is simple… when we start enjoying things, success and money will just run after you… you don’t have to run after it !!

ALWAYS HAVE CONFIDENCE THAT YOUR DECISIONS
CAN LEAD YOU FARTHER

So it’s high time that we realize whether we want to listen to our heart or the binding rules of the society and parents. A lot of people will advise you to do this and do that but at the end of the day it is you who is going to face the consequences. So be smart and hope that we choose the right thing.
