BEING WOMAN: a boon or bane

 

WOMAN: SYMBOL OF LOVE, SACRIFICE, GUTS, COURAGE, INNOCENCE, DIGNITY

Being woman ?? Hmm… interesting !!!

Woman is said to be the most beautiful creation of god. They are tricky creatures….emotional, sensitive, caring, possessive and what not. I have heard men say it’s so damn difficult to understand women urrghh... they’re so damn complicated !! They mess up our lives man !!  

Funny enough, but some parts are actually true. Women are dramatic and OTT (over the top) in most of the cases, but that is what sets them apart, that is what makes them unique.

Every man wants a woman in his life who can support him, care for him and love him for whatever he is. It is said that a woman is born from the rib of a man. They are not meant to be underestimated or considered weak. They are equal as in they can walk with a man shoulder to shoulder in every aspect of life.

 I had read this somewhere that just as in the case of the chess game where the queen protects the king, the same way women are also a vital part not only in a man’s life but also in the society too.

 

A WOMAN HAS GREATER STRENGTHS THAN A MAN

Today’s world has changed a great deal. It’s not like the before days where young women were held captive in their houses under constant vigil and were not allowed to see the sunshine. Today’s girls have come really far away from those dark ages. Girls have become more confident with good qualifications and degrees in their hands. They are somewhat equal to men in all spheres of life.  Now-a-days women are working too and are the breadwinners of their families. Women have become the occupants of important positions. They’re no more backward and illiterate.

You must be thinking that… wow, really women have come a lot way ahead. They have attained the saturation level of success and have become the silver lining of every society. Pretty happy picture, na ?? eh ??  WRONG !!!

Whatever I told just above is witnessed in few fractions of the society. Just as we know with every train comes a dark passenger. And that dark passenger sweeps you off your feet and corners you, threatening even your own existence.

This is what is happening in the present scenario or in fact in every woman’s life. What I mean to say is that the happy picture exists in a very miniature corner of the world while the rest of the earth is crying with brutality, torture, bias towards women. This world is rotting and reeking with the smell of their tears, blood and the age old rituals that is scaring their dignity, identity, self-respect and defense.

LIVING A WOMAN'S LIFE IS NOT A PIECE OF CAKE

Rapes, murders, early marriage, female foeticide, no allowance of education, prostitution, gender bias, sexual assault, harassment, eve-teasing, office and family politics, dowry….a woman has to go through all this, may be in some phase of her life.  This is not a small issue that can be solved by publishing some articles in the newspaper, candle marches, stricter rules etc. This requires awareness and a little piece of generosity and humanity in the hearts and minds of the people. Since ages women have sacrificed everything for their families, society putting their needs and freedom behind. And it's high time that we return back what's theirs... their self respect, freedom and dignity.

So with the existence of these evils, what a woman needs is…STRENGTH, SUPPORT, ACCEPTANCE and RESPECT from the society.

So as a responsible citizen and moreover as a girl, I realized this really bitter situation and would like to contribute something towards this cause not in the form of finance but some moral thoughts that can really make people understand the situation and emphasize.

HIGH TIME FOR WOMEN TO REALISE THEIR SELF

Being Woman: boon or bane is an initiative in the form of article writings that constitutes of a string of sub articles that’ll focus on the women related issues. Coz women really suffer a lot and this can be a good platform to discuss those problems, their roots and most important how they can be eradicated. I don’t know how far this initiative will be successful or do any justice, but I’ll try my level best to bring out the dark passenger into the sunshine and show its true colours.
